Bobby Pushkarna's producing Page 3, but that's not all he's got on his plate

It's not easy to let someone else take centre stage, especially when you share a dream. But Bobby Pushkarna, producer of Page 3, doesn't mind it at all. The 37-year-old, shy filmmaker (son of Baldev Pushkarna, who produced films like Chacha Bhatija) is more than content to let director Madhur Bhandarkar navigate the course of their dream project. "I've waited very long to produce a film. And now that things have worked out, I want to work quietly. I want my work to do the talking," he says.

Not many know that Bobby's father was to produce Ramesh Sippy's Sholay, "but he backed out after some misunderstanding". Bobby, always dreamt about making a movie but didn't know what was the right time till he met Madhur. "Since Madhur and I don't drink, we raised a toast with a cup of tea, at 2 am," he says, recalling the time they decided to make the movie.

Fascinated by the party circuit in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, Bobby and wife Kavita, a lawyer, have been visiting many parties these days. " My wife is my moral support. Though she is from London, she has literally forfeited everything to be here with me".

Bobby is also working out the logistics of taking the film to various festivals like Venice and Sundance. "I'll be more than happy if the film recovers my investment and makes a Rs 1 lakh profit."

Apart from Konkona Sen Sharma, the lead actress, the other actresses are Tara Sharma, who plays an aspiring actress, and Sandhya Mridul, who plays an airhostess.

Though Bobby is excited about his debut, he can't wait to announce his next film, "a magnum opus". "That's my most project. If things go right, we may sign on two great names of world cinema."
